This is a running Order of Merit and is updated after each tournament. There will no longer be a seperate Junior Order of Merit, the Junior golfers will be highlighted in Red

Nobuhle Dlamini does the double at Eastern Cape Women's Golf Championships

The Eastern Cape Championships were played at PE Golf Club from the 5th to 7th February 2012.

Nobuhle Dlamini of Swaziland, won the strokeplay and Matchplay Championships. She shot a 69 and 71 in the stroke play rounds and beat Nicole Loesch by 7 shots. She then went on to beat Nicole again in the match play final, which went to the 19th Hole, with an Eagle from under the trees into the hole on a very small green.

Lara is Runner up in Boland Championships at Kuils River 2012

SA Girls’ Champion 15-year old Bianca Theron picked up the first Women’s Golf championship trophy of 2012 when she won the Boland Junior Championships on a three over par 147 (73, 74) .The event was played at Kuils River Golf Club this week.   She finished five strokes clear of Woodhill’s Ruzanne van der Walt (76, 76) and Lara Weinstein (73, 79) from Glendower.

Lara wins WP Junior Championships

Glendower junior, Lara Weinstein, 76-72 (146), fired an even par final round 72 to lift the winner’s trophy at the Nomads WGWP Junior Championships held at Bellville Golf Club yesterday Sunday 8 January.  She is seen here receiving her trophy from Nomads Captain Kevern Pappin.

WGSA Rankings and Point Allocation for Senior and Junior Player Rankings

THe WGSA Senior and Junior Rankings are updated after each Provincial and National Tournament. The Point allocation system is also attached for your information as to which tournaments hold more points.

Division Winners of the Silver and Bronze Weekday League 2011

The final league matches for the 2011 season were played today. The weekday semi-finals will be played at Observatory on Thursday 3rd November, first tee off time will be 7.30am. The Weekday Finals will also be played at Observatory on Thursday 17th November, first tee off time will be 7.30am. The Sunday League finals will take place on Sunday the 6th November at  Observatory with the first tee off time being 11.15am.

The Gus and Raymond Ackerman Championships

The Gus and Raymond Ackerman was played this weekend at Westlake Golf Club under very windy conditions. Cara Gorlei of Milnerton and Kelly Erasmus of Durbanville finished tied on 228, Cara won the playoff on the 2nd extra hole.

Michelle Leigh was the best placed Gauteng golfer on 235 in 5th place. Lara Weinstein was our best placed junior on 241 in 13th place, not a great weekend for our very talented Lara.

Southern Cape Championships held at Knysna Golf Club on 27th and 28th August 2011

The Championships were played on a very wet golf course and were won by Monique Smit in a playoff against Kim Williams. Nicole Garcia was the best placed Gauteng golfer on 153 in 4th place. Results attached.

Mercia Pretorius wins Champion of Champions 18th and 19th July 2011 at The Bryanston Country Club

Mercia Pretorius of CMR won our Champion of Champions on 151, this was played in conjunction with the Nomads Strokeplay. It was great to see her back on the golf course. Nicole Garcia(156) was runner up and Nicole Becker (157), defending Champion, was third. 

The Nomads Silver and Bronze Strokeplay 2011 at The Bryanston Country Club

The tournament was played over two days on the very challenging par 73 layout. Nobuhle Dlamini won the Nomads Strokeplay Championships on a brilliant 9 under par. She shot a 69 yesterday, equalling The Bryanston CC course record set by Bertine Strauss in our 2009 Gauteng Amateur Strokeplay Championships. Nobuhle then carded a magnificent 68 today, thus a new ladies course record for Bryanston.

Kim Williams (-3) and Izel Pieters (-1) also played amazing golf and finished in second and third position respectively.

Gauteng and SA's top junior, Lara Weinstein, wins the Durban Regional Championships at Mount Edgecombe

Top SA Junior Lara Weinstein continued her recent good form to win the Durban Regional Championships played at Mount Edgecombe Country Club yesterday.   Playing in superb KZN winter weather with only a slight breeze off the sea, the teenager returned a four over 148 to win the event by two strokes from Alana van Greuning.  In third place was Kloof CC’s Kate Brett-Castle on 158.

GNGU Championships 3rd-8th July 2011 at Centurion CC

Kim Williams won the Gauteng North Strokeplay on 216 (74,73,69) on her home course. Bertine Strauss was runner up on 226 (74,81,71). Best placed Gauteng golfer was Michelle Leigh 237 (77,81,79) in 11th place and this moves Michelle up to first place on the Gauteng Order of Merit. The matchplay rounds start tomorrow.
